The village of Stoupa is in the Mani region
of the Peloponnesus, about 40 km southeast of Kalamata. The
first adventure comes when you leave Kalamata and the road
takes you inland up into the mountains, over deep gorges,and
through small mountain villages. After about 45 minutes you
have your first view of the rugged coast leading to Stoupa
from high up on the mountain. Below lies the village of
Kardimili and the road reaches the coast here. A few
kilometers further south and you are in Stoupa.
Stoupa is situated at the foothills of the Taygetos
Mountains on the Messinian Bay. There are two beautiful
sandy beaches, Stoupa Beach and Kalogria beach. In Stoupa
there are opportunities for swimming, snorkelling, boating,
fishing and hiking. There are also opportunities for
excursions to various spots of interest nearby (the Caves of
Diros, archaeological sites, etc.).
